Curbside Recycling Basics

Guidelines for Tennis Sanitation Recycling

Please place your Tennis recycling cart at the curb by 7 a.m. for pickup.

Place your RECYCLABLES directly into your cart*. Do not use plastic trash bags to contain your items. The plastic bags cause issues for the mechanical equipment at the Recycling Facility.

*Exceptions 

1. Shredded paper should be placed in a paper bag, then stapled or taped shut.  Place in your cart.The bag and paper will be recycled together.

2. Clothing and Textiles should be bagged in Simple Recycling bags and placed curbside on Recycling days.




PLACE ONLY THESE RECYCLABLE ITEMS IN YOUR CURBSIDE RECYCLING CART. Please be sure they are clean and dry.


CARTONS

  • Juice, Soup and Dairy

PAPER

  • Boxboard, including boxes from cereal, crackers, toothpaste, and similar items
  • Beverage Boxes, including soda, beer, and wine boxes
  • Cardboard
  • Cardboard Tubes, including paper towel, toilet paper and similar tubes
  • Egg Cartons
  • Frozen Food Boxes (if not plastic-coated)
  • Magazines
  • Mixed Paper
  • Newspaper and Inserts
  • Phone Books
  • Pizza Boxes (clean part only)
  • Shredded Paper in Sealed Paper Bag
  • Unwanted Mail

METALS

  • Cans (Tin, Aluminum and Aerosol**)
  • Household Metal (3 ft. or smaller)
  • Pots and Pans (handles removed)
  • Silverware

GLASS

  • Bottles
  • Jars

PLASTICS

  • Beverage Containers #1-7 (no styrofoam)
  • Clear Clamshell Packaging
  • Drained Oil Bottles
  • Large Plastic Items, including laundry baskets, toys, kitty litter pails, & buckets
  • Yogurt-type containers
  • Flower and Shrub Pots
  • Landscape Edging

 ** If your can or aerosol held a hazardous material, do not place it in the recycling cart. Throw it away if empty. Take it to the Washington County Environmental Center if has any remaining material in it. 


DO NOT Place Sharps and Medical Products in Your Cart – Medical Bio-Hazardous Waste must be disposed of correctly. Do not recycle or place in trash.


THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE TRASH AND DO NOT BELONG IN THE RECYCLING CART:

Boxes with Food Residue (Produce, Deli or Black Take-Out Containers)
Plastic Bags - including bubble wrap, plastic packing film, and retail shopping bags [bring these items to local retail store (i.e., grocery store) that collect these items]
Ceramics
Corks
Cups (Paper and Plastic)
Dishware
Disposable Dinnerware
Food Storage Bags with Zippers
Glass Cookware
Hoses
Household Garbage
Light Bulbs
Mirrors
Napkins
Pottery
Soiled Paper
Styrofoam
Window Glass
Gift Wrapping Paper
